A 60-year-old William Hill shop customer from South London correctly predicted all six winners in the totescoop6 last Saturday, resulting in a life-changing payout of £235,626.

He is now in the running for the bonus prize of £343,453 if he can find the winner of the Al Zubarah London Gold Cup (2:55 Newbury).

The lucky punter – who staked just £8 on the bet – has played the Scoop6 for many years and would take his total haul to £579,079 if he solves the 14-runner puzzle at the Berkshire racecourse – making him the biggest Scoop6 winner this year.

The bonus race will be the fourth leg of Saturday’s totescoop6 which comes from Newbury and Newmarket. The win fund kicks off with a £28,825 carryover and all six legs will be shown live on ITV.

The man, who wishes to remain anonymous, will be keeping a close eye on conditions and said this morning: “The weather is my big concern and the going could easily change so I doubt I will make my selection until an hour or so before the race.”

totepool spokesman Andrew Griffiths said: “Perseverance paid off for our mystery Scoop6 winner, who finally landed the bet after years of trying.

“We’re thrilled for him, particularly as he didn’t stake the earth, and wish him the very best of luck in the bonus race.”

The totejackpot takes in races 1-6 from Newbury on Saturday, while the totetrifecta rollover race will be the Al Zubarah London Gold Cup (2:55 Newbury).
